It’s the dawn of a new day, Nashville.
The ever-elusive sun has come out in our lovely city, and we’d almost forgotten what it looked like after a super long winter. We’re all about protecting that porcelain Jack White glow, but we’re also huge fans of soaking up the sun (like our girl/fellow Nashvillian Sheryl Crow). Wanna feel those rays on your skin and break out your Ray Bans? Here are some of the best places in Music City to chill on a patio!

The People Watcher
12 South Taproom
visitmusicicity.com
WHY:
If you like creepin’, this might be the patio for you. There’s no shame in doing some grade A people watching in one of Nashville’s hippest ‘hoods – you’re bound to see at least one of the Kings Of Leon. 12 South Taproom feels like all the non-lame parts of a chill summer house party. There will be adorable dogs drinking out of bowls, locals sipping on beer and chowing down on gouda mac & cheese, and tons of sunshine. You have a front row seat to the 12 South action here! The patio looks out over 12th Ave and is situated right next to hotspots Josephine, Jeni’s, and Mafiaoza’s.
NEIGHBORHOOD:
12 South is a friendly hipster’s paradise. You’ll hear musician dudes talking gear, see Etsy store owners taking photos for their blog, and pass semi-famous people pushing their baby in a stroller whilst enjoying a popsicle. Everyone is pretty much smiling all the time.

The Activity Enthusiast
Rebar
WHY:
One word: cornhole. One more word: BUSHWHACKERS. If you are the kind of person that likes adult milkshakes (that’s milkshakes with alcohol) and doesn’t like to just sit around when you’re out on the town, this is your spot. The Midtown hangout has a pretty rowdy crowd, and the competition heats up as the booze starts flowing. Get your game on (bring a group date here for a good time) by playing outdoor cornhole. You can catch the game on the mounted outside TVs, find shade under one of the trees, and enjoy some live music. Keep those bushwhackers comin’, y’all!
NEIGHBORHOOD:
Midtown is true to its name, boasting a solid location smack dab in – you guessed it – the middle of town! A pretty walkable area right next to Music Row, this strip has fancy restaurants, dive bars, live music, arcade games, and much more. Catch the twenty-something set here on weekends and local professionals hanging out during the day!

The Trend Junkie
Butchertown Hall
WHY:
Wanna be in the know? Bask in the warm weather at one of the newest, coolest spots in town. Everyone is talking about Germantown’s Butchertown Hall. A fresh take on a traditional beer hall, the eatery takes inspiration from the historic neighborhood’s German heritage. Not only that, they serve a mean street corn. Fresh ingredients, nothing too greasy, and a prime list of brews: this has all the makings of a Nashville mainstay. The patio is a stunner – perfect for an after work cool down with your best friends.
NEIGHBORHOOD:
The Germantown neighborhood is the place where old meets new! This picturesque, historic part of town is undergoing a renaissance, drawing foodies, creatives, and Nashvillians from all walks of life. Cool work spaces and new restaurants make it a great place to plan a meal and spend the afternoon walking through the residential parts of Nashville with a ton of character.

The Staycation-er
Coco’s Italian Market
WHY:
When the sun hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that’s amore! Actually, don’t look into the sun because that’s dangerous, but you get the picture. Coco’s Italian Market will transport you to Venice, Italy right in the middle of West Nashville. A nondescript location near Charlotte Ave. boasts a killer wine selection, some of the most authentic Italian food in town (don’t discount an Italian brunch), and BOCCE BALL. Feel like an old Italian fella and shoot the sh** with your pals on a lazy Sunday afternoon. The patio is gorgeous and you’ll have plenty to do.
NEIGHBORHOOD:
Sylvan Park is an outdoorsman/woman’s paradise. Greenery, tons of joggers, people chillin’ on the front porch – it’s a great place to walk around and take in the beauty of the city. It’s family-friendly and has some great shops/bars/restaurants!

The Cityscape Lover
Virago
mstreetnashville.com
WHY:
We love a good cityscape, and Nashville’s is universally spectacular. Wanna see the Batman building from your patio? You can hit this outside seating by day or by night for an A+ view of our favorite city! Hang out on the rooftop of Gulch favorite Virago – the sushi is on point, the clientele is hip, and the vibe has the laidback cool attitude of a swanky downtown LA spot (if that’s your thing). This place is run by M Street Nashville, so you know the food and drink selection is going to be on point. Great for a first date (summer lovin’, y’all!).
NEIGHBORHOOD:
If you want to dust off that nice pair of slacks, The Gulch is the place to be. A ultra-modern mini-metropolis with bars, restaurants, and a killer bluegrass venue, it’s just close enough (and just removed enough) from the downtown strip. You’ll see tons of professionals blowing off steam from that 9 to 5, so bring your business cards y’all!
