FAMILY FUN DAY ON THE FARM!
OUR FRIEND AND CONTRIBUTOR, THE NASHVILLE MOM, GIVES US A TOUR OF THE BLOOMSBURY FARM!
“AGRICULTURE IS THE MOST HEALTHFUL, MOST USEFUL AND MOST NOBLE EMPLOYMENT OF MAN.” – GEORGE WASHINGTON
Lauren Palmer, alongside her family own and operate Bloomsbury Farm, located outside of Nashville in Smyrna, Tennessee. This 4oo acre organic farm grows organic sprouts, wheatgrass and micro greens year-round as well as seasonable vegetables, fruits and herbs. Lauren took me on a tour of the farm and I was blown away by the beauty and love at every turn!
Bloomsbury Farm, founded in 2009 started with Palmer selling her organic vegetables and sprouts at area farmers markets. Bloomsbury fruits, vegetables, sprouts and herbs can now be found at markets, local businesses and wholesalers in and around the greater Nashville area.
These freshly picked cucamelons are not only adorable but just an organic tasty treat!
Part of Bloomsbury mission is to share their organic goods with locals by filling CSA baskets. Each week during the fall, CSA members can pick up their basket full of fresh produce. In addition to fruits and vegetables, CSA members have the opportunity to purchase farm fresh eggs.
Every Saturday, you can find Bloomsbury participating in local farmers markets. Bloomsbury loves meeting those who will enjoy the fruits of their hard work on the farm. You can find the locations of markets here. In addition to the area markets, guests are welcome to visit the farm each Friday from May to December from 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Lauren encourages everyone to stick around the farm for a while after picking up their baskets. The children will especially enjoy playing on the climbing tree and swing.
Bloomsbury also offers a beautiful Air Bnb on the property, provides a wedding venue and hosts special events. Stay tuned to Bloomsbury’s website for upcoming farm dinners, movie nights and other events.
I believe in the power of food and appreciate all the hard work that Bloomsbury plants! Go check out the farm on a Friday afternoon or visit Bloomsbury at one of the farmers markets!
Sadie and I fit in just fine on the farm!
