1. Tell us about Survivor?

Stella: Survivor is a 10-song project and there’s a song on there called “I Ain’t Leavin’ Til I’m Even” and that’s kindof how I feel about myself and that’s where the title came from. It has some autobiographical subject on it about my own life and touches on a lot of the causes that I’m very familiar with and very much speaking out about such as drug addiction, Alzheimer’s, abuse, divorce, death and struggle. Things that I think we all deal with especially women in today’s society.

2. What’s your favorite song on Survivor?

Stella: Probably Dirty Rotten Dog which is pretty self-explanatory but it’s supposed to be for fun. Like I say, if you’re not laughing, you’re probably crying so I choose to laugh instead of cry because I don’t want to mess up my mascara.

3. What does it mean to you to be releasing your 40th studio album?

Stella: I didn’t know that I had had that many albums until someone counted them up and then I got tired. Haha. I don’t know, I’m just happy that I can still be recording and I’m still inspired enough to be doing that. That’s a blessing.

4. What does it mean to you to be celebrating five decades in the music industry?

Stella: If you love what you do, it never gets old. It’s kindof like food, ya know. Music is like food for the soul. Food for the body. Food for the soul. So music and food are two of my favorite things.

5. What’s your favorite place to eat in Nashville?

Stella: I like a lot of places in Nashville but one of my favorite places to go and hang out is Melrose Grill. I like their turkey burgers. They have really great fries so I like to go there as a hang out place.

6. What would you and Dolly Parton do together on a day off in Nashville?

Stella: We’d probably go to Woodhouse and get massages and facials and things like that.
