Author: The Nashville Mom A cancer diagnosis is hard on every family member, especially children. Camp Kesem seeks to bring joy to children implicated by a parent’s cancer by providing free summer camp. Camp Kesem at Vanderbilt University is the only chapter in the Nashville area and in the entire state of Tennessee. Camp Kesem is a life-changing experience that gives children the ability to bond with others facing difficulties of life with an ill parent. Children will participate in an array of fun activities including black light dodgeball, archery, tie dye, crafts and more! Campers will also have the opportunity to meet with counselors and peers to share their experiences at an Empowerment Ceremony. This year’s camp will take place July 21-27 at Camp Sumatanga in Gallant, Alabama. Buses will be provided for campers from Nashville.
If you know of a child who would benefit from this camp, you can find the camper application here. You can also find more information on the Camp Kesem Facebook page.
