One of OZ Arts’ most popular events of the year, Family Day, is back and bringing together two of our favorite things – art and families! Sure, group hugs and family dance parties are great but there’s nothing quite like quality time with the fam on the weekend discovering something new. Or just do all of these things and be major #familygoals!

The 7th Annual Family Day is kicking off the 2019-2020 season for the nonprofit contemporary arts center with an indoor-outdoor extravaganza on Saturday, August 17th at noon. This year’s theme is “Technology in the World” and families will get to explore how people are connected around the world through exciting performances as well as a host of inventive technology and science-based activities.
Performances at Family Day will be a real treat. You’ll get to enjoy a wide variety of Nashville-based drum, dance and music ensembles plus there will be special guests! OZ Arts is thrilled to have guest artist Miwa Matreyek on the line-up. Matreyek is known for mixing live performances with animation to explore environmental themes – creating a powerful, phantasmagorical experience.
Families will also be entertained by Grupo Balança, a local capoeira group. Their high-energy group combines music, dance, acrobatics and martial arts for electrifying performances.
Nashville-based Sankofa Drum and Dance will also be entertaining folks at Family Day with their African music and dance. Performances are upbeat, empowering and a lot of fun!
Family Day will immerse you and your family members in art, music and experiences that are full of history and stories. It’ll inspire you and create meaningful conversations among your loved ones. You’ll be entertained and empowered throughout this day of learning and togetherness!
