For this special edition of the Wannado blog, we asked our resident burger enthusiast, Mike Freeman, to give a list of his all-time favorite burgers. We hope you’re hungry, because it is about to get finger-lickin’ good (check out our restaurant listings in Wannado for all your Nashville needs).
missing or outdated ad configSimply put, the hamburger is one of the easier things to make, but it’s also one of the hard things to get right! It’s nothing more than a patty between 2 buns, so how can there be so many variations? Let’s take a look at some of Nashville’s BEST burgers.

Fat Mo’s
With 14 Fat Mo’s around Nashville it’s hard to miss, but this drive-through burger is nothing short of awesome! Whether you go 1, 2 or Fat Mo’s Super Deluxe Burger (over 27 oz.), you’ve made a good choice. You might find yourself in a burger coma later in the day, but it’s worth it. Make sure and get a shake while you’re there.

Brown’s Diner
Call me crazy, but I LOVE the way that Brown’s does a burger. It’s nothing fancy, but sometimes when you do simple things right, it just comes out perfect. Stepping into Browns is like going to your weird uncle’s trailer (in a good way). The décor is old and grimy, the walls are stained yellow from years back when Nashville allowed smoking in restaurants, and they never updated…and probably won’t for that matter. A fire in the kitchen a few years ago didn’t even call for a renovation of the place. Is eating here like camping? No matter what you eat, it’s just better cause of where you are? I don’t know, but I love going there and getting a burger and fries with a side of chili. MMM MMM MMMMM.

Burger Up
While I love burgers, I hate bandwagons. I preface this next burger joint with that to let you know my intentions are pure. Burger Up serves their own unique style of “artisan burger” that I’m absolutely in love with. It’s hard to go wrong when you put Benton’s Bacon on anything. Have you tried bacon covered bananas? Of course not, they don’t exist, but I bet you wanted one before you knew it was fake…didn’t you? Burger Up rounds out their menu with a lot of burger options. Whether or not you go there wearing your fancy pants, just hope they’re also stretch pants, cause you’re going to need ‘em!

The Slider House
Ok, for the burger purists out there, you can put down your pitchforks, I know a slider and a burger are different, but when you knock it out of the slider park….you end up in the burger park. When I first ate at The Slider House, I was sad that I only had one stomach. I wish I was like Indian god with all those arms…I’d have a burger in each hand. What’s good about The Slider House is their variety. You can go traditional or you can go crazy, it’s your call. The shotgun is my personal favorite.

Gabby’s
By far, Gabby’s has my favorite burger in Nashville. It’s everything a burger should be. It’s greasy, gooey, and the kind of burger you need about 6 napkins to eat. What makes Gabby’s worth waiting in the line that often stretches out the door isn’t just the burger with melted cheese dripping down the side or the sweet potato fries (for the health nuts), but it’s the atmosphere. It’s got Nashville written all over it. You can jockey for a table or pony up to the bar, and in true Nashville style, start lunch next to a stranger and end lunch next to a friend.
