Music City Roots Live from Quarantine (Virtual Show) Thursday

-

“A bend in the road is not the end of the road,” said Hellen Keller. “Unless you fail to make the turn.” Sounds like she could have been a songwriter. Sounds like she could have been singing about our surprising times. Life has jolts, but rarely jolts that affect us all at the same time, gathering our needs and aspirations and fears all together, calling on our adaptability and our resilience. But that’s where we find ourselves, and Music City Roots has taken great heart from seeing the music community, denied the chance to play on stages, figure out new ways of doing what they do. So now we’re doing that too.

On Thursday, April 23, at 7 pm Central Time, Music City Roots will web stream the first-ever Music City Roots Live From Quarantine, full of quaran-tunes from some favorite roots music stars. It’s a one-time-only deal and won’t be available on demand later, so be sure to join on MCR’s Facebook page.

The artists have recorded their sets on their own time and Roots recorded its hosts and artist interviews, and Roots’ Eric Martin is editing everything together into a (relatively) seamless virtual version of our show.

Lineup:

  • Sam Bush
  • John Oates
  • Sierra Hull and Justin Moses
  • Lillie Mae
  • Jim Lauderdale
