Wanna Watch The Game? Your Guide To Nashville’s Sports Bars

-

We like sports and we don’t care who knows.

We all know that Nashville has a reputation for artistry. Visitors look around and see a town full of friendly, albeit sometimes brooding, musicians who’s main accessory is a guitar slung around their shoulder. We are truly proud of that rep, but we also know that Nashville is well-rounded. The sports community in Nashville is bustlin’. Between the college sports scene (#godores) and our favorite team to remember (the Titans, DUH), we’ve got a lot going on. Not only that, but Nashville is a town full of transient people – where are you gonna watch your favorite team in your home away from home? Well, we’ve got you covered.

Bring The Whole Fam

Soulshine Pizza Factory

soul

WHERE:

Near Red Door Midtown, Rebar – all the Midtown spots!

WHY:

The new-ish pizza factory in Midtown is quickly becoming a Nashville favorite. In all the hustle and bustle of that area, this is a crowded place. We were there on Saturday and saw such a variety of fans! Young, old, almost ALL decked out in purple (LSU fans flocked to this spot). Pizza will keep the kids occupied, but it is also a great place to mingle with your fellow football lovers.

GRUB:

P-I-Z-Z-A. Get you a slice of za’ (or 7). If you’re feelin’ fancy, we suggest “Sleeps with The Fishes” – shrimp, lump crab, and goat cheese? Get in my belly!

Get Rowdy

Sam’s All American Sports Grill

sam

WHERE:.

On the Hillsboro Village strip right between Belmont and Vanderbilt!

WHY:

Sam’s is the mecca of Nashville sports bars. It has received a ton of awards, being called one of the 16 best sports bars in America by Maxim, getting shout-outs from MSNBC – really prestigious in the world of beer-drinkin’, sports-watchin’, game day lovers. Everyone there is super enthusiastic; there is nothing like watching a game surrounded by super-fans at Sam’s! You have to do it at least once. But it won’t be just once, trust us.

GRUB:

Order fried pickles for the table, and you GOTTA get that chili. Yum, indeed.

Get Your Dive Bar On

Piranha’s Bar & Grillpir

WHERE:

2nd Avenue in the craziness that is downtown (totally worth it, though).

WHY:

If you love that smokey, walk-down-into-the-bar feel, this is the sports bar for you. Based on a restaurant in Pittsburgh (which we admit is home to the definitive enthusiastic fan, whether you like the Steelers or not), Piranha’s has stayed true to that underground vibe. You come in a stranger, you leave friends with everyone in the bar. Not even kidding. And Dana Marie, the server/cook/bartender, etc. is beloved by locals and drifters alike. She’ll take good care of you! Bonus: You’re just across the river from LP Field, so get ready to see those post-game fireworks.

GRUB:

This is not your mother’s cronut. This is no uppity, fancy concoction people hit each other over the head with handbags for. THIS IS: the donut burger. A cheeseburger with donuts for buns. YOLO.

Reenact “Da Bears”

Beyond The Edge

dab

WHERE:

Hip territory – near Woodland St. in East Nashville!

WHY:

Beyond The Edge is the hippest sports bar in the ville’. Fitting into the laid back East Nashville vibe, this is the place to go if you want to escape the rah-rah vibe of the collegiate crowd (not that there’s anything wrong with that crowd, but sometimes you need a visual break from the sea of khaki pants). Also, most importantly, they’re the official home away from home of Chicago Bears fan club “BEAR DOWN”! Grab your fellow fans and get ready to recreate “Da Bears” with gusto.

GRUB:

Buffalo. Chicken. Flautas. Also the “Giant Nachos” come with chicken chili on top, so there’s that. All the beer your heart could desire on draft.

Cheer For The Boys Across The Pond

Corner Pub Midtowncorne

WHERE:

There’s one in Green Hills as well, but we love to frequent the Midtown location.

WHY:

Missing the place across the pond? Gather your fellow UK fans and go watch some proper football at your local watering hole! It can be crowded during the UK games, so make sure you get there early (grab a glass of the house wine, it’s above average).

GRUB:

Hell hath no fury like the Corner Pub wings. Ask for the ghost pepper and prepare yourself, because it’s gonna be like the Dumb and Dumber scene where they use ketchup and mustard bottles as a fountain. However – you’ll love it. Just make sure no one accidentally feeds you rat poison instead of your ulcer medication.

So put your game day face on, Nashville, and head to one of these places to take in the big game! Whether your rooting for the Titans or the Cowboys (but is that even a thing anymore?), we’re sure you can find a place to feel right at home and let that inner sports fanatic out of its cage. Check out the Wannado app to find all the best sports events in town – our handy image below will help you figure it out. We’ll see you on game day!
