WannaParty? Your Concert Guide for Labor Day Weekend

-

Concert stances. We all have em’. Whether yours is the still, intent listener, the moderately festive step toucher, or an all-out headbanger, get it ready.

#TheBlockBuster

is bringing you a rockin’ pre-Labor Day party.

Awesome bands, food trucks as far as the eye can see, and stages at Dan McGuinness, Pavilion Kitchen and Bar, and Tin Roof! We’ll be hanging out at Tin Roof on Demonbreun along with some friends from Lightning 100 and Native Magazine, bringing you the best tunes Nashville has to offer.

Here’s some bands you definitely wanna see this Saturday!

missing or outdated ad config

Alanna Royale

Bringing out the girl power in the line-up, this fierce female is going to have you tappin’ those toes.

 ALANNAR

VIBE:

The horns section of Back-to-Black Amy Winehouse, the high-energy vocal stylings of Tina Turner, the enviable bangs of Zooey Deschanel…Alanna Royale has got it all!

STANDOUT SONG:

“Tennessee Heat” – let’s face it. It’s gonna be a scorcher, y’all.

FOR FANS OF:

If you like Bruno Mars take on retro-pop, this is the stuff for you.

Judah & the Lion

Young, suspenders-wearing, beard-having, harmony-laden band on the rise.

JUDAHLION

VIBE:

Their music will take you out to the fields while you’re barefoot, onto your porch with a pipe and some sweet tea, into an old church with ten of your closest friends…good, good vibes!

STANDOUT SONG:

“Fill This House”. If you don’t have a moment while you listen to these harmonies…you’re crazy.

FOR FANS OF:

Mumford & Sons and anyone they’ve ever been on tour with…think Old Crow Medicine Show, etc.

Blues for the 21st century.

PATSWEAN
VIBE:

Soulful vocals, Hendrix-esque guitar riffs, a voice with grit…you’ll be hands-in-the-air swaying and feeling like a flower child in the best way ever.

STANDOUT SONG:

“Working For You”.  Do them vocal warm-ups, because there is a “woah woah woah” that is perfect for some rousing crowd participation.

FOR FANS OF:

Well, he has ties to The Black Keys. But we say no one sub-genre can hold this guy!

How I Became The Bomb

But was there ever a time when they weren’t The Bomb? We don’t think so.

HOWIBECAMEBOMB

VIBE:

If the Talking Heads were a little more melodic, went to college in Murfreesboro, and did a record collaboration with David Bowie. There’s a lot going on, and it is all bomb-tastic.

STANDOUT SONG:

“A Formal Occasion”. The opening line draws you in with a tongue-in-cheek intensity. And young, laidback Nashville can totally relate to: “I don’t even own a cummerbund”.

FOR FANS OF:

Vampire Weekend meets underground punk meets danceable Muse grooves.

Kansas Bible Company

Music so colorful, you’ll be saying “Toto, I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore”

 KANSASBIBLE

 VIBE:

Sonically, it’s like a chorus of Jim Morrison’s singing to all the best parts of Sweet Caroline. It really feels like a fresh take on The Doors at their finest, which is the highest of compliments (as far as we’re concerned).

STANDOUT SONG:

“Witches and Wizards”. Because the song is magical, not just the title. Trust us.

FOR FANS OF:
The Doors, Pixies, Frank Zappa – it is just an all around awesome-fest.
