Wanna Get Wild?

Nashville boasts some of the most popular attractions in the United States, and especially the South. We’ve got historic country venues, Civil War battlefields, and one of the most famous honky-tonk-filled downtown strips in the world. However, only one attraction is number one in Nashville. Have you met our partner, Nashville Zoo?

This family-friendly Nashville staple is a sure-fire way to have a wonderful day in our lovely city! Located off of Nolensville Pike, the zoo’s history dates all the way back to 1810, when the Croft House was built on a family farm called Grassmere. Throughout the years the farm stayed in the family, until sisters Margaret and Elise Croft (who never married), decided to donate their land to the Children’s Museum of Nashville (which became the Adventure Science Center). After their death, their wishes of keeping the property as a nature center were honored. In 1996, the Nashville Zoo relocated to the property at Grassmere, and has been a landmark ever since.

The zoo enjoys a sterling reputation for their programs. Wanna be transported to the plains of Australia? Skip the high-priced airline ticket and just visit the Kangaroo Kickabout exhibit! You can walk a winding path through the middle of the exhibit and get up-close-and-personal with the exotic animals. They even have the ever-elusive, outrageously adorable red panda! Zookeepers are always on hand to answer the kids’ burning questions (and the adults’ too, of course). The zoo is a leader in educational outreach in the city, providing field trip packages, an educator’s lounge, homeschool days, camps, and much more.

We all wanna learn, but there are plenty of events that are pure entertainment. One of their biggest events of the year, Ghouls at Grassmere, is happening over the next two weeks. Bring the whole family to the zoo for a haunted hayride, a rockin’ monster mash, a trick-or-treat trail, a show at the Monsterpiece theatre, and much much more! The festivities are really your best bet for a seasonal family outing, and it’s a spook-tacular good time! The event also serves as a fundraiser for the zoo, so know that you’re partying for a cause.

Wanna enjoy some perks? Become a member! You’ll get free admission to most of their special events, free admission during regular hours for a year, free parking, discounted admission to zoos and aquariums worldwide, and more. Who doesn’t love a good perk?

So head to the zoo, Nashville, and get in touch with nature. Whether your an avid animal lover or just a person who can appreciate a good hayride, Nashville Zoo is the place to be this October! Follow their events in the Wannado app and have a wildly fun time!
