Lunch & Learn
Monday, June 17 12pm – 2pm
Learn about your health at a free lunch and learn, Monday, June 17 from 12:00. to 2:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin. This free event will provide valuable medical information. The topic in June is the thyroid. Lunch will be included. Reservations are required by June 13 at www.wcparksandrec.com (#12653). Wednesdays 10am – 12pm
Whether you are a novice or experienced dulcimer player, you will enjoy practicing and playing with this group of seniors (55+). Dulcimer Dandies meet every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin. The group performs together at local events throughout the year. No registration or fee. Just drop in and join the fun.
Senior Open Art Studio
Mondays 9am – noon
Express yourself during this ongoing senior open art studio time. Bring your own art supplies and projects every Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin. Instructor Pam Irvin will be on hand to teach new techniques and help you hone in on your artistic skills. No registration is required for this drop-in class. The class fee is $2 for Enrichment Center pass holders and $4 for others. Open to the public. For age 55+.
Open Watercolor Studio
Mondays 1:30pm – 3:30pm
Bring your own supplies and ideas to this watercolor studio. Instructor Pam Irvin will guide you in learning watercolor techniques. Meets ongoing Mondays, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave., Franklin. No registration is required. The class fee is $2 for Enrichment Center pass holders and $4 for others. Open to the public. For age 55+.
Senior Yarn Club
Wednesdays 10am – 12pm
This club meets every Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave. in Franklin. Come socialize and share with friends in the fun of knitting and crocheting! No registration required. Please stop by the front desk before the club starts to scan your Enrichment Center pass or pay $1 general admission.
Senior Games at Williamson County Enrichment Center
The Williamson County Enrichment Center at Academy Park, 110 Everbright Ave. in Franklin has a number of ongoing games and activities in the Senior Lounge. All seniors (55+) are welcome to drop in to enjoy the lounge or any of the games. General admission is $1 or free with a WCPR pass. Regularly scheduled activities include: bridge, dominoes, bunco, mahjong, Scrabble, euchre, pennies from heaven, pinochle, and rummikub.
Wii Sports at Williamson County Enrichment Center
Tuesdays 9:30am – 11:30am
Join us on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the Banquet Hall for some coffee, strikes, spares, gutter balls and laughs. Wii Bowling simulates real-life bowling by using simple motion controls — bowling the ball is as easy as flicking your wrist. Players can adjust the speed of their throws by swinging the remote faster, and can add spin to the ball by twisting their wrist as they throw. Wii Sports also offers tennis, baseball and more. Beginners are welcome. No experience is necessary. The activity is free with an Enrichment Centre pass or $1 general admission.
Sports for Seniors at Academy Park Gym
Tuesdays & Fridays 12pm – 2:30pm
The Academy Park Gym, located at 120 Everbright Ave., in Franklin offers a variety of sports activities for seniors each month. Open play Pickleball is scheduled on Tuesdays and Fridays from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The admission fee for gym use is $1 for seniors, or free with any WCPR pass. Learn Pottery Wheel
June 13 or 27 1pm – 3pm
Learn the foundations of pottery wheel throwing and slab building on Thursday, June 13 or 27 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave. in Franklin. Senior Games – Nolensville
Thursdays 12pm – 4pm
Join the fun with other seniors every Thursday from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. Play cards or games, knit or just chat in the senior activities room. No registration is needed. This is a free activity. Just drop in and meet other area seniors.
Senior Group Fitness & Aqua Fitness
A number of exercise programs for seniors are offered by Williamson County Parks and Recreation at the recreation centers in Franklin, Brentwood, Nolensville, Spring Hill and Fairview, as well as at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright Ave. in Franklin. Classes vary at each location, and may include Aerobic Fit, yoga (beginner, strength and advanced), SilverSneakers® Classic, circuit training, Zumba Gold, indoor cycling, water aerobics and more. Potluck and Bingo
Monthly senior potlucks are a fun way to make new friends in the community. Please bring along a side dish or dessert to share, and we will provide the meat and drinks. After lunch, enjoy a game of bingo with prizes! Upcoming potlucks are: Tuesday, June 11 at the Longview Recreation Center at Spring Hill, 2909 Commonwealth Dr. (#14642); Wednesday, June 5 at the Williamson County Enrichment Center, 110 Everbright, Franklin (#12637); and Wednesday, June 12 at the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Rd. (#14601). Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and lunch begins at noon. The potlucks are free, but registration is required at www.wcparksandrec.com.
Pickleball
If you are looking for a new way to be more active, try Pickleball, a relatively new game popular with many seniors. Pickleball is a cross between badminton, tennis and ping pong, and it’s lots of fun. Open Pickleball (indoor) for beginners is offered at the Longview Recreation Center, 2909 Commonwealth Drive, Spring Hill; the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road, Franklin; the Fairview Recreation Complex, 2714 Fairview Blvd., Fairview; and the Williamson County Recreation Complex at Nolensville, 7250 Nolensville Road., Nolensville.. Senior Bowling Group
Mondays & Fridays 9am
The Franklin Family Entertainment Center (FFEC), 1200 Lakeview Drive in Franklin hosts a discounted bowling time for seniors on Monday and Friday mornings at 9:00 a.m. No experience is necessary, and there are no set teams or leagues. Games are $1.50 each and most people bowl up to 3 games. This is a great way to bowl for fun and meet new friends. Contact FFEC for specific times at (615) 790-2695.
